DAY 01: ARRIVE PARO.
National Museum: Visit Ta- Dzong (the watchtower) was built in the 17th century to guard the Paro Rimpong dzong (fortress) below.  It was said that the future first king was kept in this tower as a prisoner for a week. It was the third king who restored the Ta-dzong and converted it into the National Museum.  The visit to the museum will familiarize you with the Bhutanese way of life and will also acquaint you with the natural and cultural history.
Evening: explore Paro Town/ Overnight at Paro
DAY 02: PARO
Hike to Taktshang, Tiger’s Nest
Bhutan’s most scenic icon or the most important landmark, Taktshang the Tiger’s nest clings to the side of a steep cliff 700 meters above the Paro valley. The place was first visited by Guru Rinpoche, founder of the tantric form of Buddhism in Himalayan countries, in the 8th century. 
Overnight in Paro.

DAY 03: PARO – GUR (4-5 hours)
Drive to the village of Genekha (2800m) to commence the trek. After crossing a bridge over the Wang Chu (Thimphu River), we follow a good track steadily upwards through oak forest to a rocky platform and good resting spot. We continue slowly up through birch and bamboo forest to reach our camp in a meadow at Gur (3350m). Overnight at campsite.
DAY 04: GUR-LAMATHABA, Distance: 9km, 6 hours
Today’s trek takes us across meadows where wild asparagus and other small plants grow, and if taking this trek in the spring, you will feel you are walking over carpets of flowers. The first pass, marked by a large cairn gives a spectacular view of the whole Dagala range, alpine meadows, and yak herders’ camps. We will lunch at a nearby yak herder’s camp. After lunch we will walk across hills and over meadows, ending the day at Yutsho Lake.
DAY 05: EXPLORE LAMATHABA
A day halt in Labathama is worth visiting the lakes and hiking up to the top of the pass for the breathtaking view. One a clear day, one can see the world’s third-highest mountain, Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Jumolhari, the highest mountain of Bhutan.
DAY 06: LAMATHABA-PANGKHA, Distance: 8km, 4 hours
Walk for 20 minutes upwards before beginning the descent at around 4,460m. There will be splendid views of the Himalayas on the descent. Your guide will help you in identifying individual peaks such as Everest, Kanchenjunga, Chomolhari, Jichu Drake, Tserimgang, Khangbum, Masagang, Tsendegang, and Gangchenta. Himalayan monal pheasants are a common sight. Overnight camp on a grassy meadow at Pangkha.
DAY 07: PANGKHA- CHERIGANG Distance: 10km, 6 hours
The day involves the crossing of several increasingly impressive passes. You will see several varieties of the blue poppy (if trekking June-July) and also many mountain birds along the way. After lunch, an hour gradual climb down brings us to the top of the last ridge on the Dagala range from where there is a spectacular view of Thimphu valley below. Camp at Cherigang.
DAY 08: CHERIGNAG-CHAMGANG-THIMPHU (Trek Ends), Distance: 6km, 3 hours
Today is the end of the thousand lakes trek, we will walk through mixed vegetation and apple orchards, finally reaching the main motorable road at Chamgang from where we will be picked up by our car. Finally, its time to say goodbye to our trekking friends (chef, staff, and horses) who took care of us for the last six days through the valley of high altitude. It is with great pride that we say, yes we successfully completed six days Thousand Lakes Trek.
Upon arrival in Thimphu if time permits, visit Great Buddha Dordenma popularly known as Buddha Point,is a massive Shakyamuni Buddha statue in the mountains of Bhutan celebrating the 60th anniversary of The Great Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. Subsequently visit KajaThrom, a farmers’ market where people bring their produce such as vegetables, fruits, cereals and dairy products which will give an idea what Bhutanese sale and eats as cuisine.
Overnight in Thimphu
DAY 09: THIMPHU- PUNAKHA DAY EXCURSION
After breakfast, travel to Punakha Valley. As you make your way out of Thimphu, on the stop, enjoy taking pictures of the Dochula Pass (3150m/10,000ft) with its panoramic views of the Himalayas.  The pass is decorated with 108 Druk Wangyel Chorten and Lhakhang which were built to celebrate the stability and progress, brought to Bhutan by His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King.
Visit Punakha Dzong, which stands magnificently on the spit of land where two rivers (Pho chu and Mo chu) meet. Punakha Dzong has special significance in Bhutanese history. It is also the winter residence for the Je Khenpo (spiritual leader) and the entire central monk body. Visit its sacred halls, courtyards, the cantilevered bridge, and walk towards another the longest chain link suspension bridge and retrace your way back to Thimphu.
DAY 10: THIMPHU-PARO
Begin your day by visiting Royal Takin Preserve (Mini Zoo), where you will find the mythical animal takin is national animal of Bhutan only found high altitude of Bhutan. This small reserve is started by Fourth King of Bhutan in 1999. Subsequently, make short stoppage at Sangaygang and Zilukha View Points overlooking Thimphu Valley and Tashi-Chhoedzong and if permits visit Folk Heritage Museum which an optional.
Towards afternoon, visit The Jungshi Paper Factory that showcases the traditional art of papermaking, which dates back centuries in Bhutan and following to stop at High Quality Thangka where you will be able to witness artist exhibiting live thangka painting, weaving, wood curving and many more.
Overnight in Thimphu:
DAY 11: DEPART PARO: Drive to the airport.
